Order by Location: A Better Experience

You spoke up, and we listened.

When we originally built Order by Location, we thought the most “fool-proof” experience was requiring guests to scan a QR code every single time they placed an order so we always knew where they were.

Many of you showed us where guests were getting tripped up, especially when they were moving quickly and thought they had already sent the order.

So we went back to the drawing board and used your feedback to create an even better Order by Location Experience

The New Flow

We now use the last location the guest scanned and display it front and center during the ordering flow (it’s big and hard to miss). Guests can still change their location if they moved, but in most scenarios they’re where they were when they first scanned.

With this new flow, guests can:

✅ Confirm their current location with one tap

✅ Change locations if they moved tables or sections, which will open the camera to scan the new QR and add those items on their same tab

✅ Clearly see where they are in the ordering process with a new stepper UI

Sometimes building great products means admitting when the “safe” option wasn’t actually the best experience. We’re always listening, always iterating, and incredibly grateful to the venues and guests who continue giving us feedback.


💡 What if a guest closes out of App Clips?
If a guest says they started a tab but can’t see it on there screen, they likely accidentally closed out of the app clip. We have Live Activities built in that allows guests to easily get back from their home screen. But if for any reason they don’t see that, they can follow these steps to get back in.
